About

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page for A Walk at the Zoo! We are participating in this walk because we support Shades of Pink Foundation's mission to provide temporary financial assistance to breast cancer families in need.

Every year, about 9,000 Michigan residents are diagnosed with breast cancer. The Shades of Pink Foundation's website reads that their vision is that no one will experience financial stress as a result of a breast cancer diagnosis. The Shades of Pink Foundation is an organization that has our full support. Jim calls it a real "rubber meets the road" organization because of the help they provide families as they battle breast cancer. In May 2021, just over a month before our beloved son, Timothy Pontzer, was killed, he wrote on his Facebook page asking for donations to my fundraising page. He wrote about how the Foundation would take the donations ' and give it to women and families directly impacted by the disease, helping them to cover medical bills, mortgage payments, groceries and more.' Timothy knew families battling breast cancer and the effect it had on their lives. He also wrote ' I always try and keep perspective through everything going on and realize that there is always somebody out there who has it worse than me and would love to switch places. A donation to Shades of Pink is an opportunity to help somebody like that. Thanks! '

Every dollar raised makes a difference and your donation stays right here in our community. All donations are tax deductible. For more information about Shades of Pink Foundation, please visit shadesofpinkfoundation.org.
