Virtual Auction Frequently Asked Questions
When does the auction open?
The auction opens at 11 am EST on April 22, 2024.
How do I participate?
This is a virtual auction, so you can participate from your computer or mobile device. Anyone can join, no matter where they are. If you plan to bid on items while at the Detroit Zoo on April 27, you will need a sufficiently-charged mobile device to participate.
How do I bid on an item?
Once you’ve looked through the list of auction items available on our event site, simply tap the “Place Bid” button on the item you are interested in. If you haven't registered or donated to SOPF A Walk at the Zoo, you will be asked to provide your contact details and enter a payment method in order to place your bid. You will only need to enter your payment information once.
To place a second bid on the same item: You will receive a notification by phone, email, or both if you have been outbid. Tap the link in that notification to return to the item and place a new bid.
To place a bid on another item: You may return to the full auction item list by tapping the “View All Items” button on the top of each item’s bidding page. Again, you will not need to enter your payment information more than once.
Is my credit card charged every time I place a bid?
No. Your credit card is only charged if you win the auction. If you do not win an auction in which you participated, please consider making a donation or bidding on another item. Every gift matters.
I have questions about the trips up for auction. Who do I ask?
You may direct all questions regarding trip details to Lauren Copiel of AmFund (American Fundraising Foundation). Lauren's cell phone number is 689-245-9916.
What happens if I am outbid?
You will receive a notification by text or email that your bid has been exceeded. If the auction is still open, you can place another bid.
When does the auction close?
The auction closes at 11 am EST on April 27, 2024. Notifications of auction closings will be sent by text. Do not wait to bid if you're interested in an item, and keep an eye on your outbid notifications.
I won the auction! What happens next?
Congrats, and thank you! You should have received a notice that you won the auction. You will then receive instructions on how to submit payment for your auction item.
If for any reason payment is not received in a timely manner, we reserve the right to cancel your highest bid. We will offer the item to the next highest bidder (and so on) until a new highest bid is confirmed. We will make every attempt to notify you regarding nonpayment with the contact information provided, but your prize will be forfeited.
Are there refunds?
No refunds will be given to auction item winners. All sales are final.
Is my auction item tax deductible?
Shades of Pink Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, EIN 20-3946913. Your auction item is tax deductible in the amount it exceeds the fair market value (FMV) of any goods or services received. Shades of Pink Foundation will provide all necessary information with your receipt.
